Our greatest calling in youth ministry is to build disciples. Which is why we need youth ministry resources that help us in this process. Granted, discipleship is not all about resources, but curriculum and other training materials can be a great help in this process. You do not just want to pick any old resources though, so there are a few things I would keep in mind. First of all I would look for a curriculum that pushes your students to feed themselves. They should not go through this process alone but they do need to begin to learn how to take ownership of their faith. Next, I would look for curriculum that calls your students to action. We have enough people who claim to be followers of Christ who believe and learn but never actually go out and do anything with their faith. And finally I would look for a curriculum that is reproducible. Whether that means that you can make copies or email digital files, you want to be able to reproduce this curriculum so that the discipleship process can happen again and again and the Gospel can be spread all over the world.

Great post but Over the last two decades, there has been a movement to rethink youth ministry, as our adolescents have been leaving youth ministry and not returning to the church. DeVries offers a model that involves adults from the church connecting in discipling relationships in order to connect adolescents to the larger life of the church and thus provide potential for their faith to become lifelong. Although not strictly a theological analysis, this book does offer an approach that takes ecclesiology seriously in the formation of people.
